'Jacks Drop Game One Against Huskies

HOUSTON, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks (9-17, 2-8 SLC) dropped the first game of their three-game series against the Houston Christian Huskies (15-8, 8-2 SLC) this afternoon, 6-4.
Cody Templeton started this game hot for the Lumberjacks, allowing only one hit and no runs through the first two innings on the mound. In the third, Josh Ibe would single up the middle, bringing home Cooper Schneider, who had doubled earlier in the inning, giving the 'Jacks a 1-0 lead.
The Huskies responded quickly, scoring one run in the bottom of the third to tie the game at one. The 'Jacks would jump back in the lead quickly in the top of the fourth. Mark Henning would lead off the inning with a double and score one batter later when Julian Swift hit an RBI single. After Dante Turgeon walked and Kevin Duran reached on an error to load the bases, Swift would score on a wild pitch. Austin Cadroy would then single to center, scoring Turgeon and giving the Lumberjacks a 4-1 lead.
Neither team would score in the fourth, but the Huskies would tie it up once again on a three-run home run in the bottom of the fifth, making the score 4-4 going into the sixth.
The next two innings went quickly, with neither team generating any offense. In the bottom of the eighth, the Huskies would take their first lead of the game, scoring two to give them a 6-4 lead heading into the ninth. The 'Jacks were unable to generate a rally and would lose the series opener, 6-4.
Jack James (1-1) lost his first game of the year, while Louis Castano (3-0) picked up the win.
