
Ladyjacks Place 4 on All-WAC Team; Kellogg WAC Coach of the Year

DENVER, Colo. – The 2021-2022 All-WAC Women's Basketball teams have been announced, after a vote of the league's 13 head coaches.
Stephen F. Austin head women's basketball coach Mark Kellogg is the WAC Coach of the Year and Aiyana Johnson, Stephanie Visscher, Zya Nugent and Brianna Mitchell received All-WAC accolades.
Kellogg earned Coach of the Year honors after leading the Ladyjacks to a 26-4 overall mark and 17-1 record in league games. SFA captured the WAC Regular Season crown and earned the No. 1 seed for the conference tournament. This is his third Coach of the Year award after winning the award previously in the Southland (2020-21) and Lone Star (2013-14) conferences.
Johnson and Visscher were selected as First-Team All-WAC and Nugent is a Second-Team All-WAC honoree. Mitchell and Visscher each earned a nod on the All-Defensive Team.
Johnson averaged a team-high 14.6 points and 6.7 rebounds per game. The Lee's Summit, Missouri native shot 55 percent (156-for-279) from the field and recorded a team-high 34 blocks and eight double-doubles.
Visscher averaged 14.3 points and 6.7 rebounds per game. The Lulea, Sweden product totaled a team-high 430 points, 200 rebounds and 80 steals to go along with five double-doubles.
Nugent averaged 11.8 points and 4.9 rebounds per game. The Denison, Texas native shot 40 percent (116-for-287) from the floor and handed out 65 assists and recorded 57 steals.
Mitchell is a defensive stalwart for the Ladyjacks. The Marshall, Texas product played in 30 games, recorded 69 steals, including seven steals in the 65-53 win at Lamar.
The Ladyjacks await the winner of Seattle U/UT Rio Grande Valley/Utah Valley/Abilene Christian. Tip is scheduled for Friday, March 11 at 2 p.m. CT and is available on ESPN+.
