Ladyjacks Head to Austin to Face Missouri State in NCAA Tournament Play-In Game

SFA set to play Missouri State Lady Bears for the third time in program history.
NACOGDOCHES, Texas- The Stephen F. Austin women's basketball program is set to appear in their 22nd NCAA Tournament with a First Four game at Austin, Texas against Missouri State.
WHERE TO TUNE IN
• This game will be broadcasted on ESPN2 at 8:00 p.m. central time on Wednesday, March 18.
• Cade Haak will have the call on Q107.
LAST TIME OUT
• SFA secured their second straight SLC Tournament Title; their third in the past six years and their 18th overall SLC Tournament Title.
• The Ladyjacks have won the SLC tournament title the past three years, not including the three years spent in the WAC.
• MVP Myka Perry led the team with 21 points and pulled down six boards.
• Harmanie Dominguez followed with 18 points and went 5-7 from beyond the arc.
• Aziyah Farrier led the team with 10 rebounds and scored eight points.
• The Ladyjacks shot 50.9 percent from the floor and 80.0 from the free throw line.
SCOUTING MISSOURI STATE
• Missouri State enters the NCAA Tournament as the Conference USA Tournament Champions with a 22-12 record and an 11-7 conference record.
• The Lady Bears upset the top three seeds in the CUSA Tournament last week as they defeated No. 3 Middle Tennessee, 69-66 then No. 2 FIU, 74-69, and finally No. 1 Louisiana Tech, 43-38.
• MVP Kaemyn Bekemeier leads the team with 591 points and averages 17.4 per game. She also leads the team with 279 rebounds and averages 8.2 per game. Bekemeier also has the most three-pointers on the team at 62.
• Lainie Douglas follows Bekemeier with 466 points and 210 rebounds.
• Maiesha Washington is the third Lady Bear with at least 200 rebounds with 209.
• Maycee James leads the team with 92 assists and 84 steals.
• Douglas has recorded 52 blocks this season and has 35 more blocks than her next teammate.
SERIES HISTORY
• This will be the third time in program history that these two programs have faced off.
• The most recent matchup was on December 19, 2008 when Missouri State won 82-63.
• Overall, Missouri State leads the series 2-0 and this is the first matchup between these two teams in the NCAA Tournament.
MONEY MANIE
• With her first three-pointer against Lamar in the SLC semifinals, Harmanie Dominguez broke the single season three-point record and currently has 97 this season.
• After recording the second most three-pointers in a single season at SFA with 89, Dominguez continues to be one of the most prolific shooters from beyond the arc. Dominguez currently has 185 career three-pointers at SFA and has sole possession of 3rd place in All-Time three-pointers.
• Dominguez secured fourth place after making four three-pointers against UIW on February 26.
• In the Jan. 29 matchup against McNeese, Dominguez made four three-pointers to pass Chanell Hayes and Britany Vinson to tie Brentney Branch for fifth All-Time with 153 three-pointers.
• Against New Orleans, Dominguez recorded four three-pointers which officially put her 8th All-Time, passing Stephanie Whitmore.
• In the game against HCU, Dominguez passed Katrina Price for 9th in three-pointers made at SFA.
• With her second three-pointer against East Texas A&M, Dominguez passed current teammate Avery Vansickle for the 10th most made three-pointers by a Ladyjack with 127. She drained her 300th career three-pointer against the Lady Lions of SLU.
NATIONAL RANKINGS
• Harmanie Dominguez is 20th in the nation with 2.85 three pointers/game, she is also 4th nationally in made three-pointers with 97.
• Kaylinn Kemp is 35th nationally and 1st in the conference with 5.0 assists/game and 34th nationally with 160 assists. Kemp is 10 assists away from breaking the freshman assist record that is held by current WVU guard, Jordan Harrison. She is also 78th nationally with an 83.5 free throw percentage.
• Aziyah Farrier is 24th nationally and 1st in the conference with 1.85 blocks/game. She also currently leads the conference and ranked 20th nationally with 63 blocks this season, which is the 5th most in a single season in Ladyjack history.
REUNITED AND IT FEELS SO GOOD
• Head Coach Leonard Bishop and guard Avery VanSickle set to reunite with former Ladyjack guard, Angel Scott in this matchup.
• Scott was a part of the 2022-23 team that went 27-7 with an appearance in the WAC Tournament Semifinals and defeated Texas State Bobcats before falling to Arkansas in the Second Round of the WNIT. This was also Mark Kellogg's last season as head coach at SFA.
• During the 2021-22 season Scott won a WAC Regular Season and Tournament Championship. The Ladyjacks played No. 5 seeded North Carolina in the First Round of the NCAA Tournament.
• Bishop recruited Scott's sister, Brionna and helped recruit Angel to join her at SFA.
