
Softball Drops Doubleheader at Ole Miss

Oxford, MS - The SFA softball team dropped a doubleheader on the road at Ole Miss, 12-2 and 7-4, Friday afternoon to wrap up the three-game weekend.
Game 1
Ole Miss jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first inning.
SFA pushed across a run in the top of the second when Sydnee Hebert scored on a fielder's choice off the bat of Sydney Carithers to cut the deficit down to 5-1. The 'Jacks added another run in the top of the third. This time Camryn Middlebrook launched a solo homer over the right-field fence to cut the margin down to 5-2.
However, Ole Miss scored seven unanswered runs in the fourth inning to earn the 12-2 five-inning win.
Game 2
This time, SFA jumped out to an early lead in the first inning. After Gabby Garcia singled through the left side and Herbet walked, setting the table for Lexi Benson. Benson deposited a 3-2 pitch over the fence to give the 'Jacks the 3-0 lead.
Ole Miss rallied back with a run in the bottom of the first inning and four runs in the third to take a 4-3 lead.
SFA answered with a Middlebrook RBI double to cut the lead down to 5-4, but the 'Jacks were unable to push across any more runs.
Meanwhile, Ole Miss added a pair of insurance runs in the fifth and sixth inning to pick up the 7-4 win.
The Ladyjacks will return to action Tuesday, March 15, back in Nacogdoches against Louisiana Tech.
