SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Former Ladyjack Head Coach and current Texas A&M Head Coach Gary Blair was announced as a nominee for the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, the organization announced this week.
Blair spent eight decorated seasons in Nacogdoches (1985-1993), where he led the Ladyjacks to six-straight NCAA Tournament appearances (Four Sweet Sixteen's and Two Second Rounds) accompanied by Southland Conference Championships during those respective seasons. He compiled a 210-43 record during his time at SFA (.830) with 88 Southland Conference victories.
A veteran of the game, Blair holds the 12th-most wins in NCAA Division I history, as he's won 848 games across 37 seasons as a head coach. He is the winningest coach in A&M history, men's or women's, and a member of seven halls of fames featured by an induction into the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame in 2013.
The 2022 Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame Class will be unveiled during the NCAA Final Four in New Orleans in April.
