
SFA Claims The Fredonia Hotel/Holiday Inn Express SFA Invitational Title by Drubbing Grambling 3-0

Ladyjacks attack at a clip of .539, Evans racks up 10 terminations
NACOGDOCHES, Texas - A perfect week for the SFA volleyball team inside Shelton Gym culminated Saturday evening with a dominant 3-0 victory over Grambling State in the finale of The Fredonia Hotel/Holiday Inn Express SFA Invitational. With the victory, the Ladyjacks claimed The Fredonia Hotel/Holiday Inn Express SFA Invitational title and ran their winning streak to six matches.
SET ONE | SFA 25, Grambling State 17
• Looking for their first victory of the season, the Lady Tigers leaped out to an early 6-5 lead before SFA asserted itself and took the lead for the rest of the set.
• Freshman Marisabel Torres served up an ace and four Ladyjacks registered a kill through a 6-0 scoring surge that turned SFA's 6-5 deficit into an 11-6 lead.
• Grambling cut SFA's lead to 12-9 before a 5-1 Ladyjack run pushed the hosts' lead to 17-10. During that run, Grambling State helped SFA along by committing four unforced errors.
• The Ladyjacks hit .538 in the frame while holding the Lady Tigers a clip of .231.

• Redmond, Coleman, Evans and Hanna each slammed down a kill during a 9-1 run to start the set and SFA never looked back.
• Grambling State had no answers for SFA in the set and the Lady Tigers' attack was anything but strong as the visitors hit -.107 with five kills and eight errors on 28 swings.
• In all, Coleman, Evans and Hanna each racked up three kills in the frame to help SFA accumulate 14 as a team.
SET THREE | SFA 25, Grambling State 15
• Another sizable run, this one of the 7-1 variety, was what the Ladyjacks greeted Grambling State with in the final frame. Coleman, Evans and Lauren Wright pounded down kills through that surge while Coleman added an ace.
• The Ladyjacks' offense peaked in the set as the home team hit an eye-popping .700 with 14 kills on 20 swings. Coleman and Evans combined to generate half of SFA's 14 terminations.
• SFA increased its aggressiveness from the service line by a notch of two, generating five service aces in the one-sided frame.
KEY PERFORMERS/STATS OF NOTE
• Making her second start of the season, Evans delivered in a big way for SFA hammering down a match-best 10 terminations on only 19 swings for an attack percentage of .526. Coleman added eight kills, four digs and an ace while Redmond rounded out the top three scoring threats for the Ladyjacks with seven kills to go along with a block assist.
• Hollas and Margaret Dean split time setting up the Ladyjacks offense with the former passing out a match-high 22 assists. Hollas also added five kills, four digs and a service ace while Dean dished out 17 helpers and contributed two kills and an ace to the cause.
• Freshman Marisabel Torres put on a serving clinic against the Lady Tigers, establishing a career and SFA season high with five winners from the line. Thanks in large part to Torres, SFA finished with a 9-4 advantage in aces over Grambling State.
• Taliacia Lang accounted for a little over one-third of the Lady Tigers' kill total, pounding down a match-high 10. As a team, Grambling State racked up 29 terminations on an attack percentage of .141.
• The Ladyjacks kept their all-time record against the Lady Tigers perfect with Saturday evening's victory. SFA is now 11-0 against Grambling State and has never dropped a set to the SWAC institution.
• Junior Ann Hollas and senior Haley Coleman were each named to the All-Tournament Team while senior outside hitter Peyton Redmond earned the title of The Fredonia Hotel/Holiday Inn Express SFA Invitational Most Valuable Player.
