Ross Tabbed Preseason Second Team All-SLC

NACOGDOCHES, Texas – Stephen F. Austin junior guard Taylor Ross has been selected to the Preseason All-Southland Conference Second Team, the league office announced on Tuesday morning. The preseason honor is the first during Ross’ career.
A native of Pflugerville, Texas (Pflugerville HS), Ross was an automatic pick to the preseason all-conference lineup after earning a place on the 2015 All-SLC Second Team at the end of the regular season last March.
Ross had a breakout year as a sophomore, averaging 14.0 points, 4.7 assists, 3.4 rebounds and 2.2 steals over 31 games. The versatile guard also shot the ball at an efficient rate (.479) from the floor and ended the season ranked third on the team in blocks (14). She is the top returning scorer from the Ladyjack squad that won the SLC regular season title in 2015.
Ross established herself as one of the best guards in the league last season, ranking third in the SLC in assists and steals per game and sitting fourth with a 1.51 assist to turnover ratio. She posted double digit points 23 times, including each of the last eight games of the season. Showing her value to the team’s success, SFA was 13-2 in games that Ross scored at least 15 points.
The Ladyjacks will rely on the 5-6 lefty again this year when the season kicks off on November 13th inside William R. Johnson Coliseum, where SFA will battle UT-Tyler beginning at 7:00 p.m. The game, along with all contests for the ‘Jacks this season, will be broadcast on ESPN3 and available for viewing on the WatchESPN app.
