FOR STARTERS: The Ladyjacks open Southland Conference play following an impressive 73-69 home win over Tulsa last Sunday with a home contest against Lamar Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. at William R. Johnson Coliseum. The Ladyjacks are about to enter a stretch in which they will play five Southland Conference games in 10 days, including three games in five days against Lamar, McNeese State and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.
LAST TIME OUT: The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjacks returned home following a six-game road trip and snapped a four-game losing streak with an impressive 73-69 victory over C-USA foe Tulsa Sunday afternoon at William R. Johnson Coliseum. SFA had four players score in double-figures for a second straight game, which included a career-high 17 point-performance from sophomore forward Daylyn Harris. She was joined in double-digits by Porsha Roberts (15 points), Antionette Carter (11 points) and K.K. Jerrell (10 points).
COVERAGE: Wednesday and Saturday's games will be streamed for free at www.sfajacks.com. Live stats will also be available on sfajacks.com. As always, Twitter updates will be provided throughout at @SFA_WBB.
HISTORY VS. LAMAR: SFA is 42-9 all-time versus Lamar, which includes a 73-64 Southland Conference Tournament first-round victory over the Lady Cardinals last season.
HISTORY VS. McNEESE STATE: SFA is 42-10 all-time versus McNeese State and this will be the first meeting between the two teams since last year's Southland Conference Tournament championship in which the Cowgirls defeated SFA, 60-56 in the title game.
NO SOPHOMORE SLUMP FOR ROBERTS: Sophomore center Porsha Roberts is eighth in the Soutland Conference in scoring, averaging 13.0 PPG. The reigning SLC Freshman of the Year leads the entire conference in field goal percentage (.556) and blocks shots (16 total, 1.5 per game) and is also fifth in rebounding (7.9 RPG).
DEFENDING THE 3-POINT LINE: SFA is allowing opponents to shoot just 25 percent from beyond the three-point arc (36-of-141), which is good enough for the 40th-best mark in the country.
PRESEASON PICKS: SFA was picked to finish second in the Southland Conference Preseason Coaches Poll and fourth in the Sports Information Directors Poll.
UP NEXT: The Ladyjacks will hit the road for a three-game road swing starting Monday at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi at 7 p.m.
