NACOGDOCHES, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin Athletics Department will be offering free admission to a pair of Nov. 17 events in exchange for toys, taking part in the Toys For Tots initiative which helps provide Christmas gifts to needy children in the Nacogdoches area.
SFA is encouraging fans to bring a wrapped toy of at least $10 value to SFA's women's basketball game on Nov. 17 versus Wiley College or to the football game against Northwestern State and in exchange for the gift, free admission to the game will be granted.
"We are always looking for opportunities to give back to the Nacogdoches and East Texas area," SFA assistant athletics director John Branch said. "This is one of those opportunities, and we are just happy to be able to have a part in it."
In 2011 the Nacogdoches Toys For Tots program received 11,088 toys to help fulfill Christmas wishes for 2,724 children in the Nacogdoches area. The program is in its 10th year and if anyone is interested in taking part on their own, interested parties can contact Ronnie Bowser at 936-554-8941.
