Jared West picked up his first win of the season with five solid innings and Richard Folmer struck out the side in the ninth for his second save in as many games for the `Jacks (9-16, 3-8 SLC).
Zac Schiefen threw seven innings for the Huskies (2-19), but allowed all four runs in falling to 0-6 on the year with his second loss to SFA.
Justin Long and Tanner Hines also had a pair of hits for SFA, with Long adding an RBI and Hines stealing a career best three bags to run his team-leading total to 12.
Ferguson gave the `Jacks the early lead in the second inning with a solo blast over the center field wall. Staley followed with a triple in to the right field corner past a diving Andrew Taccolini and made it 2-0 when he crossed home on a sacrifice fly from Trent Blanchard.
The Huskies answered with an unearned run in the top of the third when Erick Schiro scored on a throwing error by Tanner Hines at shortstop.
But SFA pushed the margin back to 3-1 in the fourth, taking advantage of Staley's leadoff double. He moved up to third on a passed ball and two hitters later scored when Long dribbled an RBI single through the right side.
Ferguson picked up his second RBI of the day with a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the seventh, a necessary insurance run as the Huskies threatened to draw even in the top of the eighth. Travis Harrelson came in out of the bullpen to start the inning after Erik Gregersen had pitched a pair of scoreless innings of relief, but walked the first two hitters of the frame and Johnny Cardenas then quickly summoned Alex Moshier to the hill.
Moshier followed by walking Taccolini to load the bases with no outs, but struck out Brian Franze looking one batter later and coaxed a groundout by Johnathan Moore for the second out that cut the lead to 4-2. He then closed out the inning by striking out Jose Luis Perez to keep the `Jacks out in front.
Folmer then entered in the ninth and mixed in a walk of David Mark around a trio of strikeouts to earn his fourth save of the year and his 13th of his career. He now needs just two more saves to tie Kyle Standley for the all-time saves mark at SFA.
Brett Rogers is scheduled to get the ball for the `Jacks on Wednesday, making his first midweek start of the year in Houston against the Huskies. Game time is set for 3:00 p.m.
