
Cormier Named SLC Player of the Week

FRISCO, Texas - Senior guard Whitney Cormier has been named Southland Conference Player of the Week announced league officials Monday afternoon. It marks the first time this season, and the second time in her career that Cormier has received the honor.
After falling behind by 13 points at half time, Cormier led a second-half surge that saw the Ladyjacks shoot nearly 60 percent in the final 20 minutes to defeat Rice. The Forth Worth, native, led all scorers with her 24 points, and also pulled down eight rebounds. Cormier recorded a complete performance on both ends of the floor finishing the game with four steals and three assists.
The victory pushed SFA to 2-0 on the season, which is the second consecutive year SFA has started a season 2-0. The Ladyjacks return to action Friday when they travel to Las Cruses, N.M. to play in the Aggie Hotel Encanto Thanksgiving Classic. The Ladyjacks open the tournament Friday against Michigan. SFA returns to the court 24 hours later to face SIU-Edwardsville.
