
Hugie Named to All-Academic Team

FRISCO, Texas - Stephen F. Austin's Kari Hugie has been named to the 2007 Southland Conference/Capital One Softball All-Academic Team, announced by league officials Wednesday. The selection is Hugie's first and comes in her first season to be eligible for the all-academic team.
Hugie was SFA's top pitcher for the 2007 season. She compiled a 9-16 record this year in 31 appearances, including 23 starts. Hugie finished with a team-best 2.88 ERA. She worked 158.0 innings this season, which ranked 10th in the Southland Conference. Her five complete-game shutouts tied for fourth in the league, and she finished with 15 complete games. Hugie recorded 44 strikeouts while holding opponents to a .268 batting average.
The sophomore from Scott, Miss., is also one of the top Ladyjacks in the classroom. Hugie has compiled a perfect 4.0 GPA through her first two years on campus as a biology major.
