
Two Ladyjacks Named All-SLC

FRISCO, Texas - Two Stephen F. Austin Ladyjacks were honorable mention selections to the All-Southland Conference softball team, announced by league officials Tuesday. Outfielders Benet Higgs and Kendal Harper were both named to the All-SLC squad following a vote by league head coaches and sports information directors.
Higgs, a sophomore from Antioch, Calif., is making her first appearance on the All-SLC list. She played in all but one game for the Ladyjacks this season, batting in the leadoff spot all year. Higgs finished the year with a .246 average. She scored a team-high 27 runs and was third on the team with 43 base knocks. Higgs led SFA in stolen bases with 19 and recorded seven assists and 106 putouts with just three errors from her position in center field.
Harper enjoyed a stellar rookie campaign. The freshman from Palmer, Texas, was second on the team with a .303 batting average. She played in all 56 games this season, making 55 starts in right field. Harper's 44 base hits rank second on the team. She successfully converted on 11 of her 18 stolen base attempts and recorded 61 putouts and six assists with only a single error all season.
