Ladyjacks Host Central Arkansas in Conference Tilt

NACOGDOCHES - The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack basketball team will look to rebound from its home setback against Texas-San Antonio, as it returns to the friendly confines of the William R. Johnson Coliseum Thursday to host Central Arkansas. The Sugar Bears (9-12/3-6) are in their first season as a member of the Southland Conference. The Ladyjacks enter the game with a 14-8 (.636) overall record, and a 6-3 (.667) conference mark. The game against Central Arkansas is slated to tip off at 7 p.m.
SFA vs. the Sugar Bears: Thursday's game against Central Arkansas will mark the first time the two programs have met on the basketball court.
Riley vs. the SLC: Ladyjack head coach Lee Ann Riley has compiled a dominant record against Southland Conference foes. Riley is 69-28 (.711) against SLC teams during the regular season.
96 Down, Four To Go: SFA head coach Lee Ann Riley is approaching another milestone. With her team's victory over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Riley is only four wins shy of her 100th career win at SFA.
Home Sweet Home: The Ladyjacks are one of the nation's all-time winningest teams at home, with a 351-88 (.800) all-time record. SFA has won 28 of its last 35 games at home and was a perfect 14-0 at home last season. The Ladyjacks are 5-3 (.625) at home this season.
Double-Double: Senior Evelyn Edwards scored 10 points and pulled down a game-high 11 rebounds in the Ladyjacks' victory at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. It marked the second time this season Edwards has recorded a double-double. Double-Double, Part II Not to be outdone by teammate Evelyn Edwards, senior Charity Egenti posted another double-double Saturday against Texas-San Antonio. Egenti scored 11 points and pulled down 10 rebounds against the Roadrunners. It marks the eighth time this season that Egenti has recorded a double-double. Egenti currently leads the SLC with her eight double-doubles.
Spreading Out the Wealth: The Ladyjacks had five players score in double figures against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, led by senior Charity Egenti's 25 points. The last time SFA had five players finish a game in double figures, was last season in Natchitoches, La., where SFA recorded an 85-69 win. Along with Egenti, junior Nikki Carr chipped in 14, while seniors Jennifer Simpson and Evelyn Edwards and freshman Whitney Cormier each added 10 points.
Charity Tosses: Senior Charity Egenti has really upped her output since the beginning of Southland Conference play. Egenti currently leads the SLC in points (19.9 ppg) and rebounds (10.7 rpg), and is tied for second in blocks (1.44 bpg) during conference only games. She is also one of only two players in the league to average double figures in rebounds during SLC games (SLU's Jazmin Cain).
Inside Force: If you look at senior Charity Egenti's numbers on the season, there is not too much difference from her numbers in conference only games. The 6-3 senior is currently third in the conference averaging 16.8 points per game, leads the conference averaging 9.3 rebounds per game and is third in the SLC averaging 1.5 blocks per game.
Freshman Leadership: If Charity Egenti is making a push for SLC Player of the Year honors, then rookie Whitney Cormier is making just as loud a statement for league freshman of the year honors. Cormier has started the last 17 games for the Ladyjacks, and is currently third on the team averaging 8.9 points per game. She has scored in double-figures nine times season, including a career-high 23 at Southeastern Louisiana.
Up Next ... SFA will return to action Saturday against Northwestern State. The game against the Lady Demons is slated to tip off at 2 p.m. from Prather Coliseum.
