
Carr, Cormier Named to All-Tournament Team

COLUMBIA, Mo. - Senior Nikki Carr was named tournament MVP, and sophomore Whitney Cormier garnered all-tournament honors for their part in helping the Ladyjacks record the 2007 CenturyTel Tiger Classic title.
The Ladyjacks recorded the two victories in similar fashion to bring home the trophy. SFA rallied from an early 12-point deficit to defeat Alcorn State in the first round Friday evening. SFA played tournament-host Missouri Saturday and trailed by as many as 18 points in the second half before rallying late to send the game into overtime. SFA outscored the homestanding Tigers by three points in the extra stanza to record the 84-81 victory.
Carr finished the weekend leading the Ladyjacks in scoring. She averaged 18.5 points, 8.5 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 2.0 steals over the weekend. She recorded her first double-double of the season when she poured in 12 points and pulled down 10 rebounds in the opener against Alcorn State. She followed that with a career-high 25-point performance against the Tigers.
Cormier also added her name to the double-double list against the Lady Braves. She came off the bench to lead the team with a season-high 17 points and a career-high 13 rebounds. Cormier finished the weekend averaging 17.0 points, 9.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.0 steal per game.
The Ladyjacks return to action Monday, Dec. 17, when they host Auburn at the William R. Johnson Coliseum. The game against the Tigers is slated to begin at 7 p.m.
