TULSA, Okla. - The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack basketball team will look to put the sting of two disappointing losses behind them as they hit the road for a date against Tulsa. SFA dropped both games of its recent two-game homestand against No. 14 Auburn, and defending SWAC champion Prairie View A&M. SFA will take on Tulsa Saturday at 2 p.m. from the Donald W. Reynolds Center. It will mark the Ladyjacks' first game since returning from the Christmas break.
The Ladyjacks are 3-2 (.600) all-time against Tulsa. The teams have played each of the past four seasons with each team defending its home court. The Ladyjacks recorded a 66-55 win over the Golden Hurricane last season in Nacogdoches. The last time SFA traveled to Tulsa, the Golden Hurricane walked away with a 73-66 decision (2005-06). The series dates back to the 1982-83 season with SFA recording a 108-64 victory.
The Ladyjacks recorded the program's 797th all-time victory with their 84-81 overtime win at Missouri. The Ladyjakcs are now only three wins shy of No. 800. That victory would put SFA in some very elite company. Only five other NCAA Division I schools have recorded at least 800 wins. The list includes Tennesse, Louisiana Tech, Old Dominion, Texas and James Madison.
Senior Nikki Carr has set the pace for the SFA offense over the course of the past few weeks. After scoring only six points in the season opener, Carr has responded by scoring in double figures in each of the team's past nine games. During that stretch she has recorded a double-double, and scored at least 20 points on two separate occasions, including a career-high 25 points against Missouri. Carr currently leads the team in scoring (14.6 ppg), rebounding (6.2), assists (4.2 apg), steals (3.6 spg) and blocks.
