NACOGDOCHES - The Ladyjacks survived a scare Monday night against the eighth-seeded Lamar Lady Cardinals, but rallied for a 54-53 victory. The Ladyjacks (21-7) led for a total of 12.2 seconds in the game but it was enough to record their 21st win of the season and advance to the semifinals of the 2006 O'Reilly Auto Parts Southland Conference Championship tournament. The Ladyjacks next opponent will be No. 5 seed Louisiana-Monroe. The Lady Indians advanced to the semifinals by recording a 72-56 victory over fourth-seeded Texas State. It will be the second time the two teams have squared off in the last eight days. SFA rallied for a 65-62 overtime victory over ULM last week in Monroe. The game against the Louisiana-Monroe is set to tip off at 7 p.m. from the William R. Johnson Coliseum.
Making a Return to the Semifinals: The Ladyjacks are making their 16th trip to the SLC tournament semifinals, but its first since the 2003 season. The Ladyjacks are 14-1 (.933) all-time in SLC semifinal games. The lone semifinal loss came in 2003 when the Ladyjacks dropped a 64-56 decision to Texas State.
The Ides of March: The Ladyjacks enter the 2006 Southland Conference Championships looking to win their 15th SLC tournament title and make their 18th appearance in the NCAA Championships.
