
Edwards Receives SLC Honor

FRISCO, Texas - Senior forward Evelyn Edwards was named Southland Conference Player of the Week announced league officials Tuesday afternoon. Edwards helped lead the Ladyjacks to an upset of Louisiana Tech Friday night in the William R. Johnson Coliseum. It marks the first time in Edwards' career that she has received the honor.
Edwards scored eight points and pulled down nine rebounds in the Ladyjacks' victory against Louisiana Tech. She was also credited with three steals and two blocks in the game. Edwards came right back three nights later to record a double-double against SMU. She finished the game with a career-high 18 points and 13 rebounds. Edwards averaged 15.5 points, 11 rebounds and two blocks in the two games for SFA.
The Ladyjacks return to action Saturday when they travel to Tampa, Fla., to compete in the Best Western Roundball Classic. SFA will face Massachusetts in the first round of the tournament. The game against the Minutewomen will begin at noon (11 a.m. Nacogdoches time) from the Sun Dome. The tournament is being hosted by South Florida.
