
Ladyjacks Host SMU

NACOGDOCHES - After its thrilling 65-55 victory over Louisiana Tech at home Friday night, the Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack basketball team returns to action tonight to host SMU. The Ladyjacks (2-1) will look to make it three consecutive victories as they host the visitors from Dallas. SMU enters tonight's contest with a 2-0 record, having defeated Southland Conference foes Texas-San Antonio and Sam Houston State. Tonight's contest will tip off at 7 p.m.
The Coaches: Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack head coach Lee Ann Riley is 85-63 (.574) in her sixth season in Nacogdoches. She is 216-121 (.641) in her 12th season as a head coach. SMU head coach Rhonda Rompola is 272-176 (.607) in her 16th season with the Mustangs.
SFA vs. the Mustangs: The Ladyjacks are 8-2 (.800) all-time against SMU. SFA won the first seven meetings between the two programs. The Mustangs have won two of the last three contests, but SFA recorded a 79-72 victory the last time the two schools stepped on the court (1998-99).
Ending a Drought: The Ladyjacks ended a four-game skid to Louisiana Tech Friday night with their 10-point victory. It marked the first victory for SFA against the Lady Techsters since recording a 77-74 overtime victory during the 1990-91 season. It is only the second time since the 1979-80 season that SFA has recorded a win in the series.
Double-Doubles: Junior Nikki Carr led the Ladyjacks with a career-high 22 points and 11 rebounds Friday night against the Lady Techsters. It marked the first career double-double of Carr's career. Carr was joined in the double-double category by teammate Charity Egenti. The 6-3 senior added 11 points and pulled down 10 rebounds in the contest.
Career-High: Freshman Whitney Cormier came off the bench to provide the Ladyjack offense with a spark against the Lady Techsters. Cormier scored a career-high 13 points on 3-of-4 (.750) shooting, including a 7-of-8 performance from the free throw line.
