Ladyjacks Open Regular Season at Tulane

NEW ORLEANS, La. - The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack women's basketball team opens the 2006-07 regular season tonight against Tulane. The game against the Green Wave is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. from Fogelman Arena. The Ladyjacks are coming off a 23-8 campaign that saw them win the Southland Conference title and make a return to the NCAA Championships.
SFA returns eight letterwinners and two starters from last year's championship team. The starters include honorable mention all-conference selection Nikki Carr and junior Jennifer Simpson.
The Ladyjacks hosted Texas A&M-Commerce Friday night at the William R. Johnson Coliseum. SFA defeated the Lions, 78-76, in overtime. The Ladyjacks received strong performances from senior Charity Egenti and Natashia Green. Green led the Ladyjacks with 19 points, while Egenti added 17 points and 11 rebounds.
The Ladyjacks will remain on the road Sunday as they travel to Hattiesburg, Miss., to face Southern Mississippi. The game against the Golden Eagles is slated to begin at 4 p.m.
