NACOGDOCHES - Second-year assistant coach Amanda Went was promoted to the second assistant's position Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack head coach Lee Ann Riley announced Wednesday afternoon.
"Amanda has been a tremendous asset to our program since her arrival on campus," said Riley. "Through her hard work and dedication, both on and off the court, she has earned this promotion."
Went spent the past season working along side Taqueta Braxton with the Ladyjack guards. SFA produced two of the league's top three-point shooters in Kirby Killingsworth and Britany Vinson last year. Vinson finished the season second on the team in scoring and earned honorable mention All-Southland Conference honors. Killingsworth moved to fourth on the school's all-time three-point field goals list (117) last season.
Went comes to Nacogdoches from Bemidji State where she spent the past two seasons as an assistant basketball coach and the head softball coach. During her time at Bemidji State, Went assisted with all phases of the Beavers basketball program, including recruiting, in-game coaching and player training and development.
The Ladyjacks tip off the 2005-06 season Friday Nov. 11, against Texas A&M-Commerce. The game is slated to begin at 7 p.m.
