PLANO, Texas - Juniors LaToya Mills and Britany Vinson were named All-Southland Conference announced league officials Sunday morning. Mills was a third-team selection while Vinson earned honorable mention honors.
Mills led the team and was among the league leaders in scoring (14.8 points per game) and rebounds (8.5 per game) in 2004-05, despite missing the last month of the season with an injury. Mills recorded a career-high 30 points and pulled down a career-high 17 rebounds against Jackson State in the ECU Lady Pirate classic earlier this season to earn all-tournament and SLC Player of the Week honors. Mills has earned all-conference honors in her first three seasons as a Ladyjack.
Vinson earned honorable mention honors during a season that saw her become one of the premier three-point shooters in the conference. She led the Ladyjacks with 42 three-pointers and finished second on the team averaging 9.1 points per game. Vinson started 13 games during the season and scored in double figures in 13 contests.
The Ladyjacks return to action Monday evening when they return to Arlington, Texas, to take on second-seeded UTA in the first round of the Southland Conference Championships. The game against the Lady Mavs will tip-off at 7 p.m., from Texas Hall.
