
Ladyjacks Play Two at Home

NACOGDOCHES - The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack basketball team will look to bounce back from a tough 73-72 setback at Southeastern Louisiana Saturday night when they take the court Thursday against Texas State. The game against the Bobcats is slated to begin at 7 p.m., from the William R. Johnson Coliseum and will be only the Ladyjacks third home game in the last 35 days. The game will also be televised on Fox SportsNet. The Ladyjacks will be right back in action on Saturday when they host the rematch with Sam Houston State. The game against the Bearkats will tip-off at 4 p.m., from the William R. Johnson Coliseum.
SFA vs. the Bobcats: The Ladyjacks are 43-6 (.878) all-time against Texas State. SFA has won 11 of the last 13 meetings against the Bobcats, but has dropped two of the last three. The Ladyjacks recorded a 91-68 victory over Texas State last year in the only meeting between the two teams. The last time the two teams met in Nacogdoches, the Bobcats walked away with a 64-56 win in the semi-finals of the 2003 SLC tournament.
Home Sweet Home: The Ladyjacks are one of the nation's all-time winningest teams at home, with an all-time record of 329-82 (.800). The Ladyjacks have now won 63 of their last 76 games at home and are 6-1 (.857) in the William R. Johnson Coliseum this year.
Air Time: The Ladyjacks game against Texas State Thursday will be televised on FOX SportsNet. It will be the first televised game of the season for the Ladyjacks. Thursday's game against the Bobcats will mark the 21st time the Ladyjacks have played in a game that was televised. SFA is 13-7 (.650) all-time in games that are televised.
Academic Shootout: The Ladyjack Academic Shootout will be held Saturday Feb. 21st, when the Ladyjacks host Southeastern Louisiana. There will be a pledge table set up at the front gate of the William R. Johnson Coliseum at every home game for fans to sign up. Fans can pledge money for every point the Ladyjacks score against the Lady Lions. The money will go to help raise funds for summer school scholarships.
Being Offensive: The Ladyjacks turned in one of their best offensive performances of the season Saturday at Southeastern Louisiana. The Ladyjacks finished the game shooting 27-for-53 (.509) from the floor. It is the Ladyjacks best shooting percentage of the season and their best output since they shot 32-of-57 (.561) against Texas State in the last year's regular-season finale.
Kirby's Dreamland: Junior Kirby Killingsworth has stepped up her scoring over the past four games. She tied for game-high honors with 12 points in the win over McNeese State and scored 18 points at Southeastern Louisiana, while going 10-for-24 (.417) from the floor in those two games. Killingsworth is averaging 11.8 points per game, 5.0 rebounds per game and 2.3 assists per game over the team's last four games.
Great Brit: Junior Britany Vinson continues to bring consistent scoring on the perimeter for Lee Ann Riley. Vinson has scored 12 points in her last two games. She has scored in double figures in the last five consecutive games, and six of the team's last seven. She is averaging 11.4 points, 3.8 rebounds and 4.4 assists over the team's last five games. She also tied a career-high with eight assists at Southeastern Louisiana.
The Great Wall of Nacogdoches: Junior Kendria Smith continues to move up the Ladyjacks' record books for career blocks. Smith blocked two shots against Lamar and is currently eighth all-time at SFA with 75 career blocks. Smith is currently 10th in the Southland Conference averaging 0.84 blocks per game.
Up Next ... The Ladyjacks will be in Lake Charles, La., on Wednesday Feb. 16, to face McNeese State. The game against the Cowgirls will tip-off at 5:15 p.m. SFA will then return home for Saturday Feb. 19, for the rematch with Southeastern Louisiana. The game against the Lady Lions will begin at approximately 6:15 p.m., from the William R. Johnson Coliseum.
