Ladyjacks Head to Southeastern Louisiana

The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack basketball team hits the road this weekend looking to make it two in a row, coming off their come-from-behind victory over McNeese State, 62-50, Thursday night at the William R. Johnson Coliseum. The game snapped a three-game losing skid against the Cowgirls and more importantly improved the Ladyjacks to 4-3 (.571) in Southland Conference play. The Ladyjacks are 10-8 (.556) on the season. The Ladyjacks will be in Hammond, La., Saturday to take on the Southeastern Louisiana Lady Lions. The Lady Lions enter the game with an 8-11 (.421) overall record and 2-6 (.250) in SLC play.
SFA vs. the Lady Lions: The Ladyjacks have dominated the all-time series against Southeastern Louisiana recording a perfect 17-0 all-time record. The Ladyjacks swept both meetings between the two teams last season, including a 69-64 victory in Hammond. The Ladyjacks rallied from a 15-point second-half deficit to record the victory at the University Center.
Attacking the Glass: A big reason for the Ladyjacks comeback against McNeese State was their ability to attack the glass. The Ladyjacks 53 rebounds in the victory over the Cowgirls marks the second time during SLC play that the Ladyjacks have grabbed at least 50 rebounds. SFA pulled down a season-high 59 in the victory over Northwestern State to start the season.
The Defense Doesn't Rest: The Ladyjacks held McNeese State to an 18-of-66 (.273) shooting performance, including a 2-for-14 (.143) mark from beyond the three-point line, Thursday night. The 18-of-66 (.273) performance by the Cowgirls was a season-best performance for the SFA defense. It is the best performance by a Ladyjack squad since holding Louisiana-Monroe to a 19-for-72 (.263) outing last season.
The Human Road Block Junior Kendria Smith came off the bench to provide the Ladyjacks with some strong minutes against McNeese State. Smith scored seven points, grabbed a season-high five rebounds, blocked a season-high three shots and dished out one assist. Smith currently has 75 career blocks which is eighth all-time at SFA.
Great Brit Junior Britany Vinson continues to be an offensive weapon for the Ladyjacks. She scored 12 points for SFA in its victory over the Cowgirls and has now scored double-figures in the last four games, and five of the last six. She is averaging 10.2 points, 4.3 rebounds and 3.5 assists during that stretch.
