
SFA Travels to No. 21 Texas

Fresh off its 80-45 victory over Arkansas-Little Rock, the Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack basketball team will look to continue its modest three-game win streak in hostile territory. The Ladyjacks will be in Austin, Texas, Thursday night to face No. 21 (ESPN/USA Today Women's Top 25 poll) Texas. The game against the Longhorns is slated to begin at 7 p.m., from the Frank Erwin Center. The Longhorns are the first nationally ranked team that the Ladyjacks have faced this season.
SFA vs. the Longhorns: The Ladyjacks trail the all-time series to Texas, 10-6 (.625). SFA has dropped the last four meetings, and five of the last six to the Longhorns. The Ladyjacks last victory was a 70-66 decision during the 1979-80 season. Thursday night's game will be the first meeting between the two schools since the 1987-88 season.
Tradition of Winning: The SFA Ladyjack basketball program has been one of the most dominant programs in women's basketball history. The Ladyjacks are among the nation's all-time top 10 with 754 wins. The Ladyjacks are also among the all-time top 10 with a .731 winning percentage (754-278).
Tradition of Winning in the SLC As dominant as SFA has been nationally, they have been just as dominant in the Southland Conference. The Ladyjacks are the conference's most dominant team, compiling a 264-42 (.863) all-time record. SFA has won 14 of a possible 18 SLC tournament titles and 13 regular-season titles. SFA has also recorded four undefeated seasons in league play and has had 41 players named All-SLC.
The Defense Doesn't Rest: The Ladyjacks have really stepped up the defensive effort over the past two games. SFA held Air Force to an 18-of-58 (31 percent) performance from the field. The Ladyjacks continued their strong defensive play against Arkansas-Little Rock, allowiing the Trojans to connect on only 17-of-53 (.321) field-goal attempts. The Ladyjacks have held their last two opponents to 35-of-111 (32 percent).
Career-High: Junior Evelyn Edwards led SFA Tuesday night in its victory over Arkansas-Little Rock. Edwards scored a career-high 13 points.
