Mardi Gras Madness

NACOGDOCHES - The basketball season is just around the corner and the Stephen F. Austin Ladyjacks and Lumberjacks will be kicking off the official start to the season at Mardi Gras Madness Thursday Oct. 27. The event is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. in the William R. Johnson Coliseum.

Students will have the opportunity to participate in contests where the winner could receive a $1,500 tuition for the spring semester. The SFA spirit squads will be performing as well as handing out free T-shirts, Mardi Gras beads and other assorted items.

The evening will be highlighted by the introduction of the 2005-06 Ladyjack and Lumberjack basketball teams. Admission to Mardi Gras Madness is free.

Mardi Gras Madness is sponsored by the SFA Alumni Association, Clear Channel Communications, Joe Max Green Insurance Concepts, Chase Bank, Varsity Bookstore, R&K Distributors Inc., Nacogdoches Eye Associates, Tipton Ford, Elliott Electric Supply Co., Creative Photography and Bancorp South.

The Ladyjacks will open the season Friday Nov. 18 at North Texas. The Lumberjacks will tip off the 2005-06 season Saturday Nov. 19 at Tulsa.
