
LaToya Mills Named Preseason All-SLC

PLANO, Texas - Senior forward LaToya Mills was named a first-team All-Southland Conference selection league officials announced Tuesday afternoon. The Ladyjacks also received one first-place vote in the preseason polls of both the SLC head coaches and sports information directors, but were picked to finish fourth (sports information directors poll) and fifth (head coaches) overall.
Mills is a 6-0 senior that is returning for her final season in a Ladyjack uniform. Mills was in the midst of her best season at SFA when she was sidelined with an injury in early February. At the time of her injury, Mills was among the league's top 10 in scoring (14.8 ppg) and rebounding (8.5 rpg). Mills enters her final season on pace to become the 22nd Ladyjack to record 1,000 points in a career. She also has opportunity to become the first Ladyjack to earn All-SLC honors in all four seasons.
The Ladyjacks are picked to finish fourth in poll of the league sports information directors and fifth by the head coaches. SFA received one first-place vote and 82 points to finish fourth in the SID poll. The Ladyjacks also received one first-place vote and 59 points to finish fifth in the head coach's poll. Texas-Arlington was picked to win the league, followed by Texas-San Antonio and Louisiana-Monroe.
