
Ladyjacks Fall at UTA

ARLINGTON, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack basketball team lost to Texas-Arlington, 68-45, Saturday night in Texas Hall. The loss ended the Ladyjacks three-game conference win streak. The Ladyjacks are now 5-16 (.238) overall and 5-5 (.500) in league play.
The Ladyjacks led by three points, 9-6, with 16:25 remaining in the first half when UTA went on a 14-1 run to take a 20-10 lead with 8:43 left in the first half. The Lady Mavericks' physical style of play worked to their advantage as they built a 32-21 halftime lead. UTA was 10-of-25 (.400) in the first half while the Ladyjacks struggled to a 6-of-25 (.240) performance in the first half. UTA also outrebounded the Ladyjacks, 21-15, opening stanza.
Texas-Arlington didn't cool off in the second half, shooting 14-of-25 (.560) extending their lead to 20 points. Texas-Arlington was led by Rola Ogunoye's 25 points and seven rebounds.
The Ladyjacks never found their mark, finishing the game 15-of-51 (.294) from the floor and getting outrebounded, 40-30, while turning the ball over 20 times.
The Ladyjacks were led by sophomore Kendria Smith and LaToya Mills who each scored eight points. Mills also pulled down a game-high nine rebounds.
The Ladyjacks return to action Wednesday when they travel to Lake Charles, La., to face McNeese State. The game is slated to tip-off at 5:15 p.m., from Burton Coliseum.
