NACOGDOCHES - The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack basketball program will be facing one of the toughest non-conference schedules in that nation in 2004-05. The Ladyjacks non-conference schedule was ranked as the 12th-toughest in the country according to the Women's Basketball Coaches Association/RPI report.
The Ladyjacks will face five teams that advanced the NCAA tournament last season. The Ladyjacks will face No. 6 (ESPN/USA Today Top 25 poll) Duke at the Junkanoo Jam tournament in the Bahamas, with the potential of playing No. 19 Kansas State in the second round. The Ladyjacks could also face No. 8 Baylor in the second round of the US Cellular Classic. The Ladyjacks will also host Rice (Nov. 19), Tulsa (Dec. 18) and Arkansas State (Dec. 21) this season, all three of which advanced to the Women's NIT last year.
The Ladyjacks open the 2004-05 regular season Friday night against Rice. The game against the Owls is slated to begin at 7 p.m., from the William R. Johnson Coliseum.
