NACOGDOCHES - Fresh off their thrilling 58-54 victory over Texas-Arlington Saturday night, the Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack basketball team returns to the William R. Johnson Coliseum Wednesday to face rival Sam Houston State. The game against the Bearkats is scheduled to tipoff at 7 p.m. The Ladyjacks will then travel to Hammond, La., to face Southeastern Louisiana. The game against the Lady Lions is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m., from the University Center.
SFA vs. the Bearkats: The Ladyjacks have dominated the all-time series against Sam Houston State owning a 52-3 (.945) all-time advantage. The Ladyjacks have won 38 of the last 41 meetings, including the last eight consecutive. The Ladyjacks recorded a 77-69 victory over the Bearkats last season in the Nacogdoches.
SFA vs. the Lady Lions: The Ladyjacks are a perfect 16-0 all-time against Southeastern Louisiana. SFA recorded a 73-54 victory over the Lady Lions last season in Hammond. The Ladyjacks won the first meeting between the two teams this season, 71-57, in Nacogdoches.
Tradition of Winning: The SFA Ladyjack basketball program has been one of the most dominant in women's basketball history. The Ladyjacks are among the nation's all-time top 10 with 731 wins. The Ladyjacks are also among the all-time top 10 with a .742 winning percentage (731-254).
Tradition of Winning in the SLC: As dominant as SFA has been nationally, they have been just as dominant in the Southland Conference. The Ladyjacks are the conference's most dominant team, compiling a 251-28 (.900) all-time record. SFA has won 14 of a possible 16 SLC tournament titles and 13 regular-season titles. SFA has also recorded four undefeated seasons in league play and has had 36 players named All-SLC.
Riley vs. the SLC: SFA head basketball coach Lee Ann Riley is in her third season with the Ladyjacks. During that span, Riley has coached her troops to a 36-9 (.800) mark in Southland Conference games.
Home Sweet Home: The Ladyjacks are one of the all-time winningest teams at home, with an all-time record of 320-78 (.804). The Ladyjacks have now won 54 of their last 63 games in the William R. Johnson Coliseum. The Ladyjacks were 10-2 at home last season.
Looking Ahead ... The Ladyjacks return to action Thursday Feb. 5th, when they host defending regular-season champion Texas-San Antonio. The game against the Roadrunners is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m., from the William R. Johnson Coliseum. SFA will return to action two nights later to face Louisiana-Monroe. The game against the Lady Indians is scheduled to get under way at 6:15 p.m., at the Coliseum.
