NACOGDOCHES - Freshman Britany Vinson (Prattville, Ala.) scored a career-high 27 points as the Ladyjacks knocked off Northwestern State, 80-73, Friday night at the William R. Johnson Coliseum. The victory gives SFA a 15-12 (.556) overall record and a 15-5 (.750) league mark and more importantly SFA will be the No.-2 seed in the Southland Conference tournament.
SFA turned the tables on Northwestern State, as the Ladyjacks jumped out to the big lead opening the game on a 15-3 run. The Ladyjacks sustained the offensive explosion throughout the first-half, going 19-of-43 (.442) from the floor, including a 7-of-14 (.500) effort from beyond the arc. Northwestern State battled back to cut the lead to four points, 77-73, with 1:42 remaining behind Angela Davidson's 18 points. But the Ladyjacks would not surrender the lead, rolling to their second-consecutive win.
It wasn't just the SFA offense that got the job done against the Lady Demons. SFA forced Northwestern State into 18 turnovers and outrebounded the visitors, 44-40.
Senior Amy Collins (San Antonio, Texas) finished her final regular-season game with an 11-point, nine-rebound and three-block effort.
