Ladyjacks Fall To Southwest Texas, 74-67

The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjacks (13-12, 13-5) fell to Southwest Texas Saturday evening by a score of 74-67, and remain in a tie for second place in the SLC standings entering the final week of play. The loss drops SFA two games back of conference leading UT-San Antonio with two games to play.
SFA had gotten back into the race for the conference title over the past two weeks by playin stifling defense. The Ladyjacks had held their last four opponents to under 30 percent from the field. That was not the case Saturday night as Southwest Texas ended up shooting 46 percent from the field (26-57). Southwest Texas hit the offensive glass over the final four minutes of the game in helping seal the win.
Kirby Killingsworth led SFA with 15 points in the game, all in the second half of play. Two other Ladyjacks, Nathesia Wright with 14 points and Latoya Mills with 11 points, also finished in double figures for SFA. Amy Collins added eight points and 10 rebounds to lead SFA on the boards. The 'Jacks outrebounded SWT 42-37 for the game. Collins also added two blocked shots, becoming the all-time blocked shot leader in Ladyjack history.
SFA shot 36 percent from the floor (19-55), and was only 3-16 from beyond the arc. SFA shot 84 percent at the free throw line, making 26 of 31 free throws in the game.
SFA returns home for its final two regular season games beginning Wednesday night as they host UL-Monroe.
