
SFA to Face League Leaders

NACOGDOCHES - The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack basketball team will be fighting to take another step closer to the top of the Southland Conference standings as it gets set to square-off against league-leading Texas-San Antonio. The game is slated to begin Thursday at 6 p.m., from the William R. Johnson Coliseum. The Ladyjacks will then hit the rode for their final away game of the regular season. SFA will be in San Marcos, Texas, Saturday to take on Southwest Texas. The game is slated to tipoff at 5:45 p.m., from Strahan Coliseum.
Plan 'B' The game against Texas-San Antonio was originally scheduled for Wednesday Feb. 26th at 6 p.m. But it has been rescheduled and will be played Thursday Feb. 27th, at 6 p.m., in the William R. Johnson Coliseum.
SFA vs. the Roadrunners The Ladyjacks lead the all-time series 25-2 (.926) against Texas-San Antonio, but dropped only their second decision to the Roadrunners earlier this season, 64-50, at the Convocation Center. It was the first UTSA victory in the series since the 1986-87 season.
SFA vs. the Bobcats The Ladyjacks own a 42-4 (.913) all-time series advantage over Southwest Texas. SFA has now won the last 10, and 20 of the last 21 meetings between the two teams, including a 77-52 decision earlier this season in the William R. Johnson Coliseum. The last time SFA traveled to the Strahan Coliseum. The Ladyjacks defeated Southwest Texas, 59-57, in overtime.
Home Court Security The Ladyjacks are one of the all-time winningest teams at home, with an all-time record of 315-72 (.814), including a perfect 13-0 record last season. The Ladyjacks have now won 49 of their last 52 games in the William R. Johnson Coliseum. The last time SFA lost a home game in the Southland Conference was an 88-77 setback to Sam Houston State during the 1998-99 season. The Ladyjacks are 7-1 (.833) at home in 2002-03.
Tradition of Winning The SFA Ladyjack basketball program has been one of the most dominant in women's basketball history. The Ladyjacks are among the nation's all-time top 10 with 726 wins. The Ladyjacks are also among the all-time top 10 with a .752 winning percentage (726-239). Tradition of Winning in the SLC As dominant as SFA has been nationally, they have been just as dominant in the Southland Conference. The Ladyjacks are the conference's most dominant team, compiling a 246-24 (.911) all-time record. SFA has won 14 of a possible 15 SLC tournament titles and 13 regular-season titles. SFA has also recorded four undefeated seasons in league play and has had 33 players named All-SLC.
The Defense Doesn't Rest The Ladyjacks' defense has been dominating over the past four games. The Ladyjacks have allowed only 57-of-218 (.261) from the floor during that stretch. Teams are only 14-of-76 (.184) from beyond the three-point arc over that same time. The Ladyjacks are currently the league's best defense in terms of field-goal percentage, allowing only 37 percent from the floor.
Looking Ahead ... The Ladyjacks return home to close out the 2002-03 regular season. SFA will host Louisiana-Monroe Wednesday March 5th, at 6 p.m. SFA closes out the season with the rematch against Northwestern State on Friday March 7th. The game is slated to tipoff at 8:15 p.m. Both games will be played at the William R. Johnson Coliseum.
