NACOGDOCHES, Texas -- The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack basketball team got a game high 21 points from Stacey Szymanksi and outpaced the Perik Jumpers 81-67, Friday night in the final exhibition game of the 2003 season.
Szymanksi was 10-14 from the field on the night benefiting from great passing from guards Britany Vinson and Jaliyla Muhammad as the Ladyjacks dished out 15 assists on the night. Alex Bowman added 14 points and Zedralyn Butler also added 12 points to round out the double figure scoring for SFA.
The Ladyjacks shot an even 50 percent from the field for the game (31-62), but only 4-17 (.235) from outside the three point arc. SFA's defense held the Jumpers to only 37 percent from the field and only .231 from outside the arc (3-13).
SFA was outrebounded 35-30 for the night but outscored the Jumpers 32-16 in points in the paint.
Szymanski also led SFA with five rebounds in 29 minutes of action.
Chelsea Grear led the Jumpers with 24 points and was 3-6 on three point attempts. She was the only Jumper to connect from beyond the arc.
The Ladyjacks open the regular season Friday, Nov. 21 against Louisiana Tech, in the coliseum. Tip is set for 7:00 p.m.
