
Ladyjacks Picked Third in Hoops' Poll

PLANO, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack basketball team has been picked to finish third in the Southland Conference in a poll of the league head coaches and sports information directors announced SLC officials Thursday afternoon.
The Ladyjacks received three first-place votes and 103 points in the SID poll to finish behind Texas State and Texas-San Antonio. In the head coach's poll SFA received one first-place vote and 84 points to finish third. The league head coaches picked Texas State to win the conference followed by Texas-San Antonio.
Sophomores Kirby Killingsworth and LaToya Mills were both named to the 2003-04 Preseason All-Southland Conference second team.
Killingsworth led the Ladyjacks in scoring as a freshman with 10.9 points per game. She also averaged 4.5 rebounds and 1.3 steals per game in her rookie season, while leading the Southland Conference with 2.17 three-pointer per game. Killingsworth also recorded SFA single-season top-10 performances in three-pointers (50) and three-point field-goal percentage (.357).
Mills was named the 2003 SLC Freshman of the Year and third-team All-SLC after leading the Ladyjacks in rebounding (7.6 per game) and finishing second on the team in scoring (10.0 per game). Mills was among the league leaders in scoring and rebounding and finished third in the league with her 3.63 offensive rebounds per game.
The Ladyjacks open the 2003-04 regular season Friday Nov. 21st against Louisiana Tech in the William R. Johnson Coliseum.
