NACOGDOCHES - The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack basketball team gets set to battle McNeese State riding a two-game win streak. SFA will face McNeese State Saturday at 6:15 p.m., in the William R. Johnson Coliseum. The Ladyjacks will then hit the road for a Thursday Jan. 9th showdown against Nicholls State. The game against the Colonels is slated to get underway at 5:45 p.m., from Stopher Gymnasium in Thibodaux, La.
SFA vs. the Lady Cowgirls: The Ladyjacks are 33-3 (.917) all-time against McNeese State. SFA swept the season series from the Cowgirls last year and have won the last 12 meetings between the two teams, dating back to the 1994-95 season.
SFA vs. the Colonels: The Ladyjacks have dominated the series with Nicholls State, compiling a 27-1 (.964) all-time series record. SFA has won the last 27 meetings, with the lone NSU victory coming in the 1984-85 season when the two teams first met on the court.
Home Sweet Home: The Ladyjacks are one of the all-time winningest teams at home, with an all-time record of 309-72 (.811), including a perfect 13-0 record in 2001-02. The Ladyjacks have now won 43 of their last 46 games in the William R. Johnson Coliseum. The last time SFA lost a home game in Southland Conference play was an 88-77 setback to Sam Houston State during the 1998-99 season. The Ladyjacks are 1-1 (.500) this season at home.
Tradition of Winning: The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack basketball program has been one of the most dominant in women's basketball. SFA is among the nation's all-time top 10 with 716 wins. The Ladyjacks are also among the all-time top 10 with a .753 winning percentage (716-235). Over the course of the past four seasons, SFA won 95 games. The 95 wins ranked 15th in the country during that stretch.
Tradition of Winning in the SLC: As dominant as the Ladyjacks have been nationally, they have been just as dominant in the Southland Conference. The Ladyjacks have been the conference's most dominant team, compiling a 236-20 (.922) all-time record. SFA has won 14 of a possible 15 SLC tournament titles and 13 regular-season championships. The Ladyjacks have also recorded four undefeated seasons in league play and have had 33 players named All-SLC.
Looking Ahead ... The Ladyjacks will remain on the road to face Southeastern Louisiana on Saturday Jan. 11, in Hammond. The game is slated to tipoff at 4 p.m., from the University Center.
