
Vaughn Added To Softball Staff

NACOGDOCHES, Texas -- Stephen F. Austin softball coach Jennifer Poulsen announced today the addition of Aimee Vaughn to her coaching staff. Vaughn takes over the position formerly held by Monica Armendarez.
A 2002 graduate of the University of Alabama-Birmingham, the New Orleans, Louisiana native will assist Poulsen in all aspects of the SFA softball program.
An All-State, All-East Jefferson Parish and All-District softball player at Ecole Classique in New Orleans as a prep player, Vaughn also lettered in soccer, volleyball, basketball track and tennis. Following high school, Vaughn played two seasons at Gulf Coast Community College where she earned First Team All-Conference and national all-tournament team honors for the Commodores.
After sitting out the 2001 season, Vaughn played last season at UAB where she started all 61 games at third base for the Blazers, hitting .253 in 178 plate appearances. She led the team with six home runs and tied for third on the team in runs batted in, with 28.
"I'm very excited to be able to being someone like Aimee into our program. Her youth and enthusiasm will help us instill a new attitude heading into next season, plus she has a great knowledge of the game," said Poulsen.
SFA hosts its annual Fall tournament this weekend with play getting underway at 9:00 a.m. at the Coy Simms Softball Complex and lasting throughout the day.
