NACOGDOCHES, Texas -- The Stephen F. Austin State University Ladyjack basketball program has signed Yolanda Grant and Cayla Petree.
Yolanda Grant, a 6'0" forward from Howard Junior College, averaged 20 points per game. Grant shot 52% from the field and 48% from the three-point range during the 1998 season. Grant continued to be a threat by averaging nine rebounds and three steals per game. While playing for Howard Junior College, Grant has been named to the All-WJCAC Team, as well as the Lady Hawk Classic All-Tournament Team.
"Yolanda is a big guard at 5'10" which enables her to play multiple perimeter positions. She played point guard through post in high school. She will be an immediate impact player for us next fall," said Coach Royce Chadwick.
Cayla Petree, a 5'8" guard from Cisco, has averaged 27.9 points, 10.8 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game. In 1998 Petree was named MVP (11-2A), a member of the First Team All-Region, an All State Honorable Mention member, an Abline Reporter News-Super Team member and the Abline Reporter 2A Player of the Year. Petree has been a member of the National Honor Society.
"Cayla is a tenacious player both offensively and defensively. She can play either guard spot and can shoot the lights out. Cayla's 20 points per game average, makes her a welcome addition to our back court," said Coach Royce Chadwick.
