- Title:
- Student Assistant Coach
The 2017 signals the beginning of Alex Stuart’s first season as a student assistant coach for Stephen F. Austin. A pitcher by trade, Stuart will work with the ‘Jacks’ corps of arms.
Originally a signee at Hutchinson Community College in Hutchinson, Kan., in the fall of 2012, Stuart was forced to take a break from baseball from 2013 until the summer of 2016 due to a wide variety of shoulder ailments.
In the summer of 2016, Stuart made his return to the diamond by signing on with the Hutchinson Monarchs of the National Baseball Congress (NBC).
As a prep at Plano East High School, Stuart pulled double-duty by starring on the baseball diamond as well as the gridiron. During his senior season, Stuart collected First Team All-District honors as a closer for the Panthers. A closer on PEHS’s District 8-5A hardball squad, Stuart notched no fewer than six wins on the hill during his final season of pre-collegaite duty. In the fall, Stuart saw time as both a tight end and a wide receiver on the Panthers’ football squad.
