ABILENE, Texas- Stephen F. Austin lost to Abilene Christian 3-1 on Saturday at Moody Coliseum. SFA hit .224 with 55 kills and eight blocks, but after a 25-15 second-set win, the final two sets went 22-25 and 22-25.

SFA took the first two points on ACU attack errors, but ACU came back to tie the set at 3-3 and moved ahead 7-4 behind an Annaleise Sevier kill, an SFA attack error and a Brennan Ramirez ace. Katherine Holtman helped SFA draw even at 8-8 with two kills in a three-point stretch, before ACU regained the lead and held it through the middle of the set. SFA stayed within a point at 14-15 on consecutive Kennedy Jones kills and again at 16-17 after a Jones kill and an ACU attack error, but the Wildcats pushed the margin to 24-19. Molly Cravens answered once with a kill, and Sevier closed the set for ACU at 25-20.

SFA built a 3-0 start in the second set with a Cravens kill, an ACU attack error on a Kyanna Creecy-Jones block and an Avery Koonsen service ace. ACU pulled within 6-5, but SFA took five of the next six points, with Jordan Henderson joining Cravens and Koonsen on blocks during the stretch to make it 11-6. SFA kept the separation through the middle of the set, getting kills from Koonsen, Jones, Cravens, Creecy, Madi Zorn and Henderson while moving ahead 20-14. After ACU made it 20-15, SFA closed with the final five points, including a Creecy kill, two ACU attack errors and a Jones kill from Zorn for a 25-15 set win.

Cravens had two early kills as SFA moved in front 5-3, but ACU tied the set at 5-5, and the teams traded points to 8-8. ACU scored four straight with Hannah Gonzalez serving to go ahead 12-8 and later held a 14-9 advantage before Koonsen and Cravens helped SFA close to 15-12. The Wildcats pushed the margin back to 19-14 on a service ace by Abby Christian, but SFA got a Jones kill and an ACU attack error before Holtman's kill made it 20-17. After ACU reached 23-19 on an Aubrey Beaver kill, SFA used a Maddie Finnegan attack error and a block by Creecy and Cravens to trim it to 23-21, but Annaleise Sevier put ACU at set point and, after a Jones kill, Hadlee Welch closed the set at 25-22.

SFA erased an early 2-0 deficit with a Creecy kill and an ACU attack error, and the teams traded points until Holtman, Cravens and an ACU error helped SFA move in front 11-7. ACU cut the gap to 13-12, but SFA answered with three straight points, including a block by Creecy and Jones, to build a 17-12 lead. ACU worked back from 18-14 to 18-17, and after SFA went ahead 19-17, the Wildcats scored four straight points to move in front 21-19. Koonsen kept SFA within reach with kills at 21-20 and 24-21 before a bad set made it 24-22, but Aubrey Beaver closed the set for ACU, 25-22.
