PREVIEW: Ladyjacks Open SLC Play in the Pressure Cooker

NACOGDOCHES, Texas- The Stephen F. Austin volleyball program returns to the friendly confines of the Pressure Cooker to begin Southland Conference play against Southeastern Louisiana and LSU-New Orleans.

WHERE TO TUNE IN
• Both games will be broadcasted on ESPN+ this weekend with Greg Miller and Brittany Castledine on the call.

SCOUTING SLU
• The Lions head to Nacogdoches with a 3-10 record and currently on a five-game losing skid.
• Last weekend SLU was at the Rebel Challenge hosted by UNLV and lost to UC Irvine, UNLV, and UC San Diego.
• Kyra McKelvey is the only Lion with over 100 kills and is sitting at 151 this season with 3.15 kills per set.
• Ashley Richardson leads the SLU offense with 268 assists and has 8.12 assists per set.
• Melina Gonzalez is the only Lion with over 10 aces this season at 13.
• Audrey Vielguth holds down the backline with 96 digs.
• Four Lions have recorded over 20 blocks this season.

SCOUTING LSU-NOLA
• The Privateers enter this week with a 2-11 record and will begin conference play against Lamar on Thursday night before heading to Nac.
• Armie Hall and Laura Piva each have recorded over 100 kills this season with 148 and 111 respectively.
• Defne Eciroglu and Mariana Franco run the LSU-NOLA 6-2 offense with 323 combined assists.
• Mia Lopez leads the defensive effort with 204 digs and averages 4.34 per set.
• Nyakuak Lual leads the net presence for the Privateers with 32 blocks.

"When you can throw everything out the door, when you start, you put two conference opponents together, it's going to come down to that particular day, which team shows up ready to play, which team is the most aggressive, and which team executes at the highest level, and we are ready for that to be us this week," said Coach Humphreys "Jack Nation, conference play is here, and we need your support. You are what make the pressure cooker the pressure cooker. It is not a pressure cooker without our fans. So, we need those extra two to three points per set that you bring."

POWER DUO
• Katherine Holtman earned SLC Offensive Player of the Week honors after being named to the Wildcat Classic All-Tournament Team with 45 kills and 23 digs over the weekend.
• Holtman was joined on the Wildcat Classic All-Tournament Team by teammate, Molly Cravens who finished the weekend with 29 kills, including a new career high of 17 vs Louisiana Tech, and 8 blocks.
