After two scoreless innings from Amelia Hatthorn and Emma Olsen, SFA got on the board in a big way in the third inning. Kara Pride drew a leadoff walk then Ellie Vance singled to put runners on first and second for Morgan Wright. Wright hit a long single to deep center field to score Pride and Vance, 2-0. Kaylee Paul then drew a walk to put two more runners on for Kyi'Marri Ester who hit an RBI double to left center to score Wright, 3-0. Malia Jones then stepped up to plate and smoked a two-RBI single back up the middle to score Paul and Ester, 5-0. The Lions got their first run of the game across home plate in the bottom of the third, 5-1.
Adelyn Becerra hit a leadoff homerun to left center in the top of the fifth inning to put SFA on top 6-1. Pride drew another leadoff walk to begin the sixth then a sac bunt from Kylie Bishop got Pride to third base for Vance to hit an RBI single to left field to score Pride, 7-1. ETAMU plated two in the bottom of the sixth, 7-3. The Jacks did not take their foot off the gas in the seventh as Kayden Frazier drew a bases loaded walk, 8-3. Mallory Dwyer stepped up with the bases loaded and crushed a bases clearing double to left center to add three more runs for the Jacks, 11-3. Next, Bishop scored the final run of the game on an RBI double to right center, 12-3. Hatthorn shut the door on the Lions offense in the bottom of the seventh and secured her eighth win of the season.
Game 2: SFA 11, ETAMU 6
Crimson Bryant got the start in the circle for the Jacks in game two of the doubleheader. Both pitchers kept the offenses silent in the first inning, but the Lumberjacks would not stay quiet long. In the top of the second, Ester hit a triple to deep center field then Jones drew a walk to put two runners on for Lilly Bean. Bean hit a two-RBI single to left center to score both Ester and Jones, 2-0. Later SFA got the bases loaded for Vance who grounded out to second base, but it allowed Bean enough time to score SFA's third run of the game, 3-0. Becerra stepped up to the plate and destroyed her second homerun of the day this time to straightaway center to cap off a six-run inning for the Jacks, 6-0. In the bottom of the second, Bryant recorded her third strikeout of the game which was her 150th career strikeout.
The next scores of the game came from the Lions as they recorded their first run in the bottom of the fourth and then added four more in the bottom of the fifth, 6-5. In the top of the sixth, the bases were juiced for Becerra who took advantage and smashed a bases clearing double to right center to record her sixth RBI of the game, 9-5. Paul followed with her 100th career hit which was an RBI infield single which scored Becerra, 10-5. Ester wrapped up the scoring for the Jacks with an RBI double to center, 11-5.
