Lumberjacks Sweep Away Lions in Run Rule Fashion

A first inning grand slam from Kyi’Marri Ester began a six-RBI day as SFA defeats ETAMU 11-1.
COMMERCE, Texas- The Stephen F. Austin softball team wrapped up their series against the ETAMU Lions with a Saturday afternoon matchup.
SFA got the final game of the series started off with a bang as two singles and walk loaded up the bases for Kyi'Marri Ester who crushed a grand slam to left field, 4-0. In the second, Malia Jones led the inning off with a double and then Jamie Varga followed with an RBI double, 5-0. After a walk drawn by Ellie Vance and a single from Adelyn Becerra, the bases were loaded for Morgan Wright who hit an RBI single to right field, 6-0. Kaylee Paul followed with a bases loaded walk to bring in run number seven, 7-0.
The Jacks did not take their foot off the gas in the third as Jones hit a leadoff single to third then Varga drew a walk and Vance hit a single to load up the bases for the third straight inning. Becerra hit a sacrifice fly to left field, 8-0. Wright singled to third to reload the bases before Paul drew another bases loaded walk, 9-0. Ester wrapped up her commanding day at the plate with a two-RBI single to shallow left field, 11-0. ETAMU broke up Jordyn Ages' no hitter in the bottom of the fourth and scored their lone run of the game, 11-1.
POSTGAME NOTES
• Kyi'Marri Ester led the offense with six RBIs going 2-3 from the plate with a grand slam.
• Ellie Vance went 2-2 with three runs scored.
• Malia Jones also went 2-2 from the plate with two runs scored and a double.
• Kaylee Paul drew a walk in every at bat, and finished the day with three walks.
• Morgan Wright and Adelyn Becerra each went 2-3 from the plate with a run and an RBI.
• Jordyn Ages pitched a complete game allowing three hits, one run and struck out one batter.
UP NEXT
SFA will return home for a conference midweek series against top seeded Southeastern Louisiana with a Tuesday doubleheader at 4:00 and 6:30 p.m. and then wrapping up with a single game Wednesday afternoon at 12:00 p.m.
