
‘Jacks Continue Homestand Against Privateers and Lions

NACOGDOCHES, Texas- The Stephen F. Austin volleyball program continues their three-game homestand against the New Orleans Privateers on Thursday night and capping it off with a battle against the Southeastern Louisiana Lions on Saturday.
WHERE TO TUNE IN
• Both matches this week will be streamed on ESPN+. Greg Miller and Brittany Castledine will be on the call for both matches.
ABOUT THE LADYJACKS
• SFA won their conference opener for the 14th season in a row by securing a 3-1 win over tournament defending champions, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.
• Head Coach Debbie Humphreys secured her 850th career win in a five-set thriller against Abilene Christian on September 5.
• With John Cook (NEB) and Mary Wise (FLA) announcing their retirements over the summer, Coach Humphreys is now one of two active coaches in Division I to win over 800 matches and is the only active coach to win 800 at one institution. She has the second most wins among active DI coaches with 850.
• The 'Jacks finished a tough non-conference slate with a 5-6 record. They picked up wins over UTSA, Texas State, Louisiana, Abilene Christian, and Tarleton. SFA is hosted No. 10 SMU and UTEP in the second SFA Tournament to close non-conference.
SCOUTING NEW ORLEANS
• New Orleans currently sits with a 6-9 record and split conference opening weekend defeating Nicholls in five sets Thursday night before falling to McNeese in five sets on Saturday.
• Senior middle blocker, Courtney Roundtree leads the Privateers with 158 kills (2.87 per set). Graduate opposite hitter, Alessandra Meoni follows Roundtree with 123 kills (2.28 per set)
• Junior setter, Defne Eciroglu leads the UNO offense with 418 assists (7.60 per set).
• Freshman libero Ella Moss leads the team with 12 aces followed closely by junior outside, Celia Mbaya who has 11.
• Eciroglu, Mbaya and sophomore libero Peyton Cole all have over 100 digs recorded this season.
• Senior middle blocker/right side Akeir Scales leads the net presence for UNO with 32 blocks with Roundtree right behind her at 30 blocks.
SCOUTING SOUTHEASTERN LOUISIANA
• Southeastern Louisiana comes into the Pressure Cooker for an early bout of heavyweights in Southland Volleyball. The Lions have a 10-4 record and swept conference opening weekend against McNeese and Nicholls.
• Junior opposite, Kyra McKelvey leads the Lions with 177 kills (3.69 per set) with senior opposite, Alexis Logarbo the only other Lion over 100 kills at 117.
• SLU's 6-2 setters' sophomore, Ashley Richardson and senior Peyton Stokley each have over 200 assists. Richardson has 295 and is averaging 6.15 per set while Stokley has 238 and averages 5.53 per set.
• Stokley is also lethal from the service line with 15 aces on the year, followed by freshman outside Abigail Bailey who has 13.
• Redshirt senior libero, Lexi Gonzalez leads the back line for the Lions with 194 digs. Bailey and Richardson also have 112 and 108 digs respectfully.
• The Lions net presence is led by redshirt senior India Bennett who has 77 on the year and averages 1.83 per set. Logarbo is the next closest with 43 blocks on the year.
• McKelvey earned SLC offensive player of the week honors on Sept. 1 while Bennett has earned two defensive player of the weeks on Sept. 8 and more recently Sept. 29.
SERIES HISTORY
• This will be the 21st meeting between the Privateers and the Ladyjacks. SFA holds a 17-3 series lead and are a perfect 8-0 at home. The 'Jacks are currently on a 16-game win streak that began on September 5, 2008.
• Saturday will be the 50th meeting between SFA and SLU. The Ladyjacks hold a 39-10 series lead. However, the Lions are on a four-game win streak with the last 'Jacks win coming on October 19, 2019.
MILESTONE TRACKER
• Jayden Flynn needs four more aces and 67 more assists to move into seventh place in SFA history in both categories.
• Camryn Hill needs 35 more digs to reach 1,000 career digs.
• Katherine Holtman needs 39 more kills to reach 500 career kills.
REVENGE TOUR
• Ilana de Assis led the 'Jacks to defeat her former team on Saturday with 19 kills, 19 digs, one ace, and two block in SFA's five-set win over UTRGV.
• SFA will be looking for revenge against SLU who defeated the 'Jacks in three five-set matches last season including the home matchup last October that broke a 35-game home win streak.
