SFA Offense Powers Ladyjacks to Sweep over Roadrunners

SAN ANTONIO, Texas- The Stephen F. Austin volleyball program got their 2025 campaign started at the UTSA Invitational with the host Roadrunners.
Despite being down 5-1 early in the first set, the 'Jacks fought back with kills from Kyanna Creecy, Ilana de Assis, and Katherine Holtman to tie the match up at five. The rest of the set went back and forth with seven ties until Holtman got back to the service line and the SFA offense finished the set on a 5-0 run, 25-17.
The second set featured total domination from the Ladyjack offense who blasted out to a 17-4 lead. SFA held off UTSA and strolled to a 25-12 second set victory and held the Roadrunners to a .056 attack percentage.
In the third set, both teams fought tooth and nail for every point. There were four ties in this set before SFA took control and ended the match on a 7-0 run to secure their first victory of the season with a 25-16 third set victory.
POSTGAME NOTES
• SFA moves to 33-10 against UTSA.
• This is the fourth season in a row the 'Jacks have won their season opener.
• SFA won every stat category; points (62-33), kills (46-29), aces (6-0), blocks (10-4), assists (44-26), and digs (59-50).
• Katherine Holtman records her 17th career double digit kill match and led the team with 11.
• Ilana de Assis records her first double-double as a Ladyjack with 10 kills and 12 digs. (40th career)
• Four Ladyjacks scored 10 or more points.
• Molly Cravens tied her career high with five blocks for the fifth time.
UP NEXT
The Ladyjacks take on defending Sun Belt Tournament Champions, Texas State at 11 a.m. tomorrow morning. Texas State holds a 33-22 advantage over SFA and have won the previous ten matchups. The 'Jacks will look to secure their first win against the Bobcats since 2006.
