‘Jacks Complete Reverse Sweep Comeback Against Lady Lions in Hammond

Powered by double-doubles from Camryn Hill and Ilana de Assis, the Ladyjacks move to 13-1 in SLC play.
HAMMOND, La.- The Stephen F. Austin volleyball program wrapped up their final road trip to Louisiana against the Lady Lions of Southeastern Louisiana Saturday afternoon.
The 'Jacks got out to a hot start with a 4-0 run that featured an ace from Jayden Flynn and a kill from Izabella Ortiz. SLU responded with a five-point spurt to take a 9-8 lead. Later a 5-1 run by the Lady Lions extended their lead to 18-14. SFA responded with a 4-1 run late in the set to cut the deficit to three but a kill by Kyra McKelvey secured a 25-21 first set victory for SLU.
This time the Lady Lions jumped out to an early 7-5 lead before the 'Jacks went on a four-point run to retake a slim 9-7 lead. Both teams traded blows until a four-point run by the Lady Lions gave them a 22-19 lead late in the second set. SLU was able to win three of the final four points to secure a 25-21 second set victory.
The third set was tightly contested as neither team held more than a three-point lead until SFA ended the set on a 4-0 run to secure a 25-21 third set victory.
SFA turned momentum in their favor as they jumped out to a 7-2 lead in the fourth set. Both teams sided out the next seven points. A three-point mini run from the Lady Lions cut the deficit to four, 15-11. SLU continued the offensive push with a four-point spurt to cut the lead to 17-15. The 'Jacks responded with a 4-1 run to extend their lead to 21-16. A kill from Camryn Hill secured a 25-22 fourth set victory.
In the fifth SFA continued their offensive push by jumping out to a 4-1 lead. At the switch the 'Jacks doubled up the Lady Lions 8-4. The Ladyjacks completed the reverse sweep comeback as a kill from Izabella Ortiz, whose 2025 season ended on the court at University Center, secured a 15-7 fifth set victory for SFA. The 'Jacks hit .435 in the fifth set with 10 kills on 23 swings and no errors.
POSTGAME NOTES
• SFA sweeps the season series against SLU and moves to 41-10 all-time.
• Camryn Hill led the team in kills with 16 and digs with 21 for her sixth double-double.
• Ilana de Assis lit a fire in the SFA offense as she recorded 14 kills and 14 digs for her team leading seventh double-double.
• Izabella Ortiz and Katherine Holtman each recorded 10 kills.
• Jayden Flynn ran the SFA offense with 38 assists for a new season high and was two shy of her career high.
• Kyanna Creecy led the net presence with four blocks followed by de Assis and Jordan Henderson with three each.
• Caroline Kahle joined Hill by recording 20 digs in today's match.
