‘Jacks Establish No-Fly Zone in Beaumont

Camryn Hill and Kennedy Jones each record double-doubles as the ‘Jacks inch closer to the SLC regular season title.
BEAUMONT, Texas- The Stephen F. Austin volleyball program made the quick trip down to Beaumont to face the Lamar Cardinals in the first match of the home-and-home this week.
Lamar won the first two points before the 'Jacks rattled off six straight points to take an early 6-2 lead. Both teams traded blows until the Ladyjacks went on an 8-1 spurt to take a commanding 23-12 lead. A kill from Camryn Hill secured a 25-15 first set victory for SFA.
The second set was tightly contested as neither team held more than a three-point lead until SFA rattled off four straight capped off by back-to-back aces from Jayden Flynn to take a 13-9 lead. Lamar fought back later in the set with a 4-1 spurt to cut the deficit to one, 22-21. SFA won the final three points and won the second set, 25-21 off an ace from Caroline Kahle.
In the third, both teams traded blows the entire set as neither team held more than a three-point lead. Lamar tied up the set late at 24 to send it to extras and took the advantage early, 25-24. However, back-to-back kills from Izabella Ortiz and Katherine Holtman plus an attack error from the Cardinals secured the sweep for the 'Jacks with a 27-25 third set victory.
POSTGAME NOTES
• SFA moves to a 43-21 all-time series lead over Lamar and extends their win streak to 21.
• Izabella Ortiz and Kennedy Jones paced the offense with 11 kills each.
• Jones and Camryn Hill each recorded double-doubles. Jones added 15 digs to her 11 kills while Hill had 10 kills and 13 digs.
• Jayden Flynn led the offense with 24 assists.
• Kyanna Creecy and Jordan Henderson each recorded six blocks with two solo stuff each.
• The 'Jacks recorded the most blocks they have had in a three-set match this season with 13.
• In addition to Jones and Hill's double-doubles, Caroline Kahle recorded 12 digs to shore up the back line.
• Six different Ladyjacks recorded aces with Flynn leading the team with two.

SFA returns to the friendly confines of the Pressure Cooker for their biggest match of the season. The Southland Conference Regular Season Title and the number one seed in the upcoming conference tournament is on the line and will be secured with a win on Saturday, November 15 at 12:00 p.m. The 'Jacks will be celebrating Senior Day where they will honor five seniors after the match against Lamar.
