
‘Jacks Survive in Five Against Cowgirls

Kennedy Jones set a new career high with 21 kills and records her third straight double-double with 10 digs.
NACOGDOCHES, Texas- The Stephen F. Austin volleyball program wrapped up their two-game homestand with a matchup against the McNeese Cowgirls.
The first set was competitive as neither team held more than a three-point lead the entire set. This set featured 11 ties and six lead changes, but the Cowgirls were able to get back-to-back kills from Ava Henry to secure a 25-22 first set victory.
The second set followed the same trend as the first until a three-point spurt by SFA gave the 'Jacks a four-point lead, 20-16. The Ladyjacks won five of the final six points and secured a 25-19 second set victory.
SFA jumped out to a 6-2 lead in the third set. Both teams traded blows for most of the set until a 5-0 run by McNeese to give the Cowgirls a 19-17 lead. Eventually, McNeese held a 24-20 lead late, but SFA staved off McNeese with three straight points before the Cowgirls won the third set 25-23.
In the fourth set, the 'Jacks jumped out to a 9-2 lead after a 6-0 run. After three points from the McNeese Cowgirls, SFA responded with a four-point spurt, 13-5. The Ladyjacks did not take their foot off gas the rest of the set as they won the final four-points of the set and tied the match up with a 25-12 fourth set victory.
SFA was up 8-5 at the switch after a kill from Camryn Hill. Both teams traded blows the rest of the set. The 'Jacks won three of the final four points and secured a five-set victory off a service error from McNeese by a score of 15-11.
POSTGAME NOTES
• SFA extends their win streak against McNeese to 18 and leads the series 49-11.
• Kennedy Jones recorded her third straight double-double with 21 kills (led team) and 10 digs.
• Camryn Hill recorded her fourth double-double in the last six matches with 14 kills and 19 digs.
• Katherine Holtman recorded 10 kills for her 16th match this season.
• Jayden Flynn ran the SFA offense with 28 assists followed by Zoe Gun with 25 assists. Gun recorded her first DI double-double tacking on 10 digs.
• Kyanna Creecy led the team with six blocks followed by Jordan Henderson who recorded five.
• Four 'Jacks recorded double-digit digs; Camryn Hill and Caroline Kahle led the team with 19 digs and Kennedy Jones and Zoe Gun recorded 10 digs.
