
Ladyjacks Defeat Colonels in Three

THIBODAUX, La.- The Stephen F. Austin volleyball program traveled to Nicholls to begin their first trip to the boot.
Nicholls jumped out to an 8-5 lead after a 5-0 run that featured back-to-back-to-back kills from Tierney Terrell. Later SFA went on an incredible 11-1 run to take a 17-10 lead. Both teams were successful in siding out the next seven points before the 'Jacks finished the set on a 5-0 run and secured a 25-14 first set victory off an ace from Katherine Holtman.
The Colonels jumped out to a 10-5 lead in the second set. SFA responded with a 5-1 spurt to cut the deficit to one, 11-10. After going on a 5-0 scoring run, the 'Jacks took a 16-13 lead. Both teams traded blows the rest of the set until Holtman sealed set point for the 'Jacks with a kill, 25-21.
Nicholls once again jumped out to an early 9-4 lead in the third set. SFA eventually tied the set up at 17 before tacking on three more points thanks to back-to-back aces from Camryn Hill and a kill from Izabella Ortiz. The Ladyjacks secured the final three points of the match with a 25-21 third set victory. During the third set, Hill recorded her 1,000th career dig.

The Ladyjacks will wrap up their Louisiana trip at Lake Charles against the McNeese Cowgirls on Saturday, October 11 at 1:00 p.m.
