
SFA Heads to Louisiana for a Pair of Conference Matches

Ladyjacks head to Nicholls and McNeese with a 4-0 SLC record.
NACOGDOCHES, Texas- The Stephen F. Austin volleyball program will make their first trek to Louisiana for a pair of conference matches. SFA will start the trip in Thibodaux against the Nicholls Colonels on Thursday, October 9 at 6:30 p.m. before finishing off the weekend in Lake Charles against the McNeese Cowgirls on Saturday, October 11 at 1:00 p.m.

ABOUT THE LADYJACKS
• The 'Jacks came in at 74 in the first NCAA RPI Poll of the 2025 season and have begun conference play on a four-game win streak.
• SFA won their conference opener for the 14th season in a row by securing a 3-1 win over tournament defending champions, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.
• Head Coach Debbie Humphreys secured her 850th career win in a five-set thriller against Abilene Christian on September 5.
• With John Cook (NEB) and Mary Wise (FLA) announcing their retirements over the summer, Coach Humphreys is now one of two active coaches in Division I to win over 800 matches and is the only active coach to win 800 at one institution. She has the second most wins among active DI coaches with 850.
• The 'Jacks finished a tough non-conference slate with a 5-6 record. They picked up wins over UTSA, Texas State, Louisiana, Abilene Christian, and Tarleton. SFA is hosted No. 10 SMU and UTEP in the second SFA Tournament to close non-conference.
SCOUTING NICHOLLS
• The Colonels come into this matchup with a 10-7 record but have not won a conference match yet. Nicholls has been swept in the previous three matches by Southeastern Louisiana, Incarnate Word, and Houston Christian.
• Nicholls is led by Graduate outside hitter, Tamara Chavez is the only Colonel with over 100 kills. She has 237 kills this season and averages 4.23 kills per set which is first in the conference in both categories.
• Junior setter, Isabella Padilla leads the 5-1 Colonel offense with 486 assists and averages 8.53 per set. She is ranked fourth in the conference in assists per set, and third in total assists.
• Five Colonels players have recorded over 10 aces with three of them averaging more than 0.30 per set.
• The digs on the back line are evenly spread out with five Colonels with over 100 digs. Freshman libero, Karina Smith leads the team with 144 digs and averages 2.67 per set.
• Freshman middle blocker, Harper Holden leads the team with 53 blocks.
SCOUTING MCNEESE
• The Cowgirls enter the weekend with a 5-11 record and a 1-3 conference record. Last weekend they were swept by Houston Christian and Incarnate Word.
• Offensively, McNeese is led by senior outside hitter, D'Nari Mills with 173 kills (2.93 per set). Mills is followed by fellow senior outside, Kayla Wilson, who has recorded 138 kills (2.38 per set).
• Freshman, Kinga Ziolkowska and sophomore, Corynne Hausler run the 6-2 offense for the Cowgirls. Ziolkowska has 321 assists (5.94 per set) while Hausler has 217 assists (4.25 per set).
• Ziolkowska also leads the team with 15 aces with senior libero Lauren Fuller also recording 11 aces.
• Fuller leads the back line of the Cowgirls with 208 digs (3.78 per set).
• Senior middle blocker, Jordan Gamble leads the block for McNeese with 38 on the season.
SERIES HISTORY
• Thursday's match will be the 58th between the Ladyjacks and Colonels. SFA leads the series 51-6 and have a 17-3 record in Thibodaux. The 'Jacks are riding a 16-game win streak against the Colonels.

• She was named SLC Offensive Player of the Week on October 6 and is the second Ladyjack to earn that honor this season.
